This project was commissioned for Golborne Canalside Health Centre following a patient competition centred on the question “What does community mean to you?”, ensuring the work was shaped by patient perspectives from the outset.

Developed for a brand new health centre in North Kensington, the project responds to a progressive model of care that emphasises social prescribing and non-medical approaches to wellbeing. The waiting area functions as a multi-use community space, hosting workshops, informal gatherings, and activities such as physiotherapy sessions and creative programmes.

Through engagement with patients, staff, and local residents, the work combines large-scale figurative imagery with abstracted ‘molecule’ forms. These elements reflect the interconnected nature of individuals within a community, and the relationship between care, environment, and collective experience.

Installed across corridors and shared spaces, including light-based works and mural interventions, the project introduces moments of recognition within transitional areas, supporting a calmer and more inclusive environment.

By embedding artwork within the everyday life of the health centre, the project contributes to a broader understanding of care—one that recognises social and emotional wellbeing alongside clinical provision.
